Technology must move from the portals of the universities to the streets in villages, fields of farmers and factories of small entrepreneurs,” said Governor M C Bhandare.
Addressing the gathering at the first convocation of Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Burla, he said universities mirror the trends of society and are pointers to the degree of discipline and progress of a community.
Moreover, universities play a vital role as they are training centres for future generation to inculcate values and ethics in them, he remarked.
Though Orissa was culturally the richest in the country and also rich in minerals, unfortunately it continues to be economically backward as poverty and illiteracy are the major hurdles on path of development of the state, Bhandare added.
